PLUMBING ENGINEER, E.I.T.

Key Responsibilities

A Plumbing Engineer, E.I.T. shall develop the ability to produce comprehensive facility plumbing designs while assisting the project engineer and, at a minimum, have the following capabilities:

  • Understand advanced plumbing theory and calculations, plumbing system components and devices.
  • Have the ability to comprehend and implement inputs and direction from the project engineer.
  • Apply Revit, AutoCAD, energy calculation, word processing/spreadsheet and other basic software to support project designs.
  • Quickly develop knowledge of codes, standards, and best practices and the ability to apply them within the plumbing design.
  • Be able to develop and draft domestic water and sanitary plans, riser diagrams and schedules.
  • Develop the understanding of the components of the mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems that will affect the design and be able to coordinate those discipline requirements into the plumbing design.
  • Attend internal and client coordination meetings with senior staff.
  • Apply general engineering principles to develop problem solving abilities and technical expertise.
  • Learn the basics of project management and project budgets.
  • Expectation of technical and management growth to assume a more responsible role.
  • Take personal ownership of the work produced.

Qualifications to Consider for Role

  • Bachelor’s degree and E.I.T. exam passed (required), military training, field experience, proven relevant technical experience.
  • Experience working in a professional A/E office, Consulting Firm, Construction Contractor, or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, word processing/spreadsheet and other basic software.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills with the ability to participate in a collaborative team environment.
