MECHANICAL ENGINEER, E.I.T.

Key Responsibilities

A Mechanical Engineer, E.I.T. shall develop the ability to produce comprehensive facility mechanical designs while assisting the project engineer and, at a minimum, have the following capabilities:

  • Understand advanced mechanical/HVAC theory and calculations, mechanical system components and devices.
  • Have the ability to comprehend and implement inputs and direction from the project engineer.
  • Apply Revit, AutoCAD, energy calculation, word processing/spreadsheet and other basic software to support project designs.
  • Quickly develop knowledge of codes, standards, and best practices and the ability to apply them within the mechanical design.
  • Be able to develop and draft HVAC plans, riser diagrams and schedules.
  • Develop the understanding of the components of the electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems that will affect the design and be able to coordinate those discipline requirements into the mechanical design.
  • Attend internal and client coordination meetings with senior staff.
  • Apply general engineering principles to develop problem solving abilities and technical expertise.
  • Learn the basics of project management and project budgets.
  • Expectation of technical and management growth to assume a more responsible role.
  • Take personal ownership of the work produced.

Qualifications to Consider for Role

  • Bachelor’s degree and E.I.T. exam passed (required), military training, field experience, proven relevant technical experience.
  • Experience working in a professional A/E office, Consulting Firm, Construction Contractor, or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, energy calculation, word processing/spreadsheet and other basic software.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills with the ability to participate in a collaborative team environment.
